Here's what's been announced: - **New maps:** Vegas Strip and Area 51 are available from launch, and an infantry-focused European Casino map arrives later in the season. - **Four new weapons at launch:** the Mk 24 assault rifle, RSPR submachine gun, Z84M light machine gun and ELR-40 bolt-action sniper rifle. - **A Dead Space crossover** called the Convergence Event, starting this Halloween. EA has not given exact dates. - The new maps also come to **Portal**, Battlefield's custom game mode. - **REDSEC**, the battle royale, gets **Rapid Royale** in Trios and Solos, while the Gauntlet mode leaves the playlist. - Balance changes for **armoured vehicles** and **anti-air** weapons. - A new ranked battle royale season, the REDSEC Open Series, and leaderboards for multiplayer. If you already subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, the answer is easy: the game and the EA Play extras are included in your plan. If you don't subscribe, the free trial from October 15 to 19 is a risk-free way to see whether the series' return to big, destructible multiplayer still suits you before paying for Game Pass or the game. ![Battlefield 6 community update artwork with a helicopter and explosions](https://blog.brightpixel.work/content/images/2026/10/news-bf6-1.jpg) EA's latest community update teased the Siege of Vegas season. [Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4](https://blog.brightpixel.work/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-release-dmz/) launches on October 23 — and reports say it **won't be on Game Pass at launch**. For subscribers choosing a shooter this month, Battlefield 6 has a clear head start. ## The reality check - **Game Pass is a rental.** If the game ever leaves the catalogue, you lose access unless you buy it. - **Several features are still ahead.** The server browser and Platoons are months away, and the third map has no date. - **Modern Warfare 4 is near.** Both shooters will compete for your time after October 23. **Will you be jumping into Battlefield 6 on Game Pass, or waiting for Modern Warfare 4?** --- *Sources:* [*Xbox Wire*](https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/10/07/xbox-game-pass-october-2026-wave-1/?ref=blog.brightpixel.work)*,* [*EA*](https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/battlefield-6/news/battlefield-6-community-update-siege-of-vegas-incoming?ref=blog.brightpixel.work)*,* [*Kotaku*](https://kotaku.com/the-best-selling-game-of-2025-storms-onto-game-pass-one-year-later-2000741981?ref=blog.brightpixel.work)*,* [*GamingBolt*](https://gamingbolt.com/?p=654335&ref=blog.brightpixel.work)*,* [*EA: Season 5 roadmap*](https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/battlefield-6/news/battlefield-season-5-roadmap?ref=blog.brightpixel.work)*.
